Top Ten Updates: Women's Basketball

Junior Crystal Henderson heads into her senior season having picked up 382 assists and 193 steals. Here's where those land on the all-time lists. She's currently seventh in assists. Sixth on the list is Brittany Hollins with 429. She's currently seventh in steals. Sixth on the list is Evita Rogers with 197. How long until she's in the top five in both categories? Fifth in assists is 444, while fifth in steals is 206.  How long until she's in the top ten for games played and started? Crystal has both appeared in and started 92 games in her career. There's a three-way tie for ninth in games with 117. She's reset the tenth-best mark for starts in a career, surpassing July Mehaffey's 91 starts from 1995-1999.  Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen, with 93 starts, is currently ninth, while Terese Allen's 99 starts is currently eighth-best in team history.

Softball Top Ten Update

Junior Makayla Stephens has 266 career strikeouts after the Georgia Tech midweek matchup, which is the new ninth-best mark in school history. Eighth on the list is Meghan McCoy, who tallied 303 from 2003 to 2006. It's worth noting that Stephens has 277 innings and the tenth spot there is 440.2 innings.

Sophomore Season Improvement

Sophomore Monna Julkunen has not only surpassed the 50-game plateau for Panther basketball- she's currently at 51- but she has a new career-high for games in a season- she appeared in 24 games as a freshman and appeared in 27 games (and counting) this year.

Sandy Panther updates after February 20

*Note: This is just off my calculations. Junior Savannah Ebarb tallied her eightieth dual-match appearance in the third game of the day (Alabama-Birmingham), all of which have been scoring matches. Junior Ellie Neville tallied her tenth career scoring match and, if stats from previous seasons are any indication, is on course for a career-best year. She's 2-1 so far this year after going 1-3 last year and winless as a freshman.  Sophomore Noalani Nuez tallied her twentieth career scoring match.   Sophomore Kate Phelan tallied her tenth career scoring match and has 14 dual-match appearances (12 scoring, 2 exhibition). She also has five wins (3-6 as a freshman, 2-1 this year). Senior Kaebre Sullivan tallied her twentieth career scoring match and has appeared in 34 dual matches (21 scoring, 13 exhibition).

The sixth "Where Are They Now" post

In the first installment, I mentioned how former Panther basketballer Deasia Merrill spent her grad year with TCU. In the second installment, I mentioned how former Sandy Panther Cassie Thayse joined the College of Charleston team as a junior. In the third installment, I mentioned how former soccer player Emma Chapman is a current sophomore at Georgia Southern. In the fourth installment, I mentioned how former volleyballer Keionna Mackey is now a senior at Appalachian State. In the fifth installment, I mentioned how former tennis player Francesca Miglio is now a junior at South Florida.  This installment, number six, focuses on libero Marta Lazzarin , who will be playing for the Tennessee Volunteers for her sophomore season in 2026. As a freshman in 2025, Lazarin appeared in 28 matches for the Panthers with 535 digs (third-most in a season) at a 5.25/set clip (second-most in a season).

Panther Softball Milestone

Sophomore infielder Zoey Defoor tallied her fiftieth game for Panther softball this previous weekend at the Mardi Gras tournament- she has 51 entering the game at Georgia Tech tomorrow. Her current season is off to an impressive start, as well- seven runs in ten games after three in 41 as a freshman last year.
