Women's Basketball Top Ten Watch

Junior Crystal Henderson has 347 assists entering tomorrow's home game against Arkansas State, which is now seventh all-time (she surpassed Crystal Johnson, who tallied 337). Sixth on the list is Brittany Hollins, who tallied 429, and fifth is Patechia Hartman with 444.  Henderson also has 181 steals, which is the new ninth-best mark (dropping Mikyla Tolivert's 180 career steals down to tenth). Eighth on the list is Marica Maddox, who tallied 182 (fifth is currently held by Sheryl Martin with 206).  Only two people in Georgia State women's basketball history are in the top five in both assists and steals- Brownie Caldwell, who last played in 1989, and Patechia Hartman, who last played in 2005.

Volleyball Coaching Updates

Myllena Torquetti has joined the coaching staff of the indoor team as a Graduate Assistant. This comes after she logged 54 appearances and 394 points across two seasons on the indoor team and an exhibition appearance for the beach volleyball team. After a mark of 35-23 across two seasons, including 16 Sun Belt wins, Flavia Siqueira is now the head coach at Florida International. Flavia engineered an impressive two-season turnaround of a program that won 20 games across the three seasons prior to her arrival.

Women's Tennis: First Matches

The women's tennis team will make the short hop across town on Saturday at Georgia Tech with first serve set for 10am before heading to Alabama next Saturday, with first serve also set for 10am. Last year, GSU fell 6-1 to Tech in their season opener and was blanked 4-0 at Alabama.

Women's Basketball Games Played entering Saturday

As mentioned in the previous post, junior Crystal Henderson currently has appeared in 79 games.  Junior Eghosa Obasuyi has logged 46 appearances.  Grad student Cheyenne Holloman is at 44 appearances.  Sophomore Monna Julkunen has logged 37.

Women's Basketball Records Watch

With action resuming on Saturday at home against James Madison, where does current junior Crystal Henderson stand on the career top tens in various categories?  With 79 games entering Saturday, she has a good shot at moving into the top ten for career games by the time she graduates. 117 is the current three-way tie for ninth (38 games away and there's fourteen games left in the regular season, so she'd be at 93 entering the playoffs if she plays the remaining regular-season games).  *It's worth noting that the last person to enter the top ten for games played was KK Williams, who tallied her tie-for-ninth 117th game back in 2019.  She has 330 assists, which is currently eighth-most in team history. Seventh on the list is Crystal Johnson, who tallied 337. Her 172 steals is four shy of tying for tenth, which is currently held by Leslie McElrath.  She's also at 79 starts and the tenth spot all-time is currently held by July Mehaffey with 91.
